Feb 11th Guide: Tips for a Successful Markup and Vote

Arrive early, this hearing is so important, there will be a line for seats in the hearing room.

So come early and head into Rayburn with all of DC.

Avoid slowing down the metal detector process. Make sure your pockets are completely empty when you go through the detector. Belts set it off, consider leaving yours at home. At home, empty your purse, back pack or any bag of everything but just your absolute necessities. Your cell can't be in your pocket, nor your keys, nothing - be prepared when its your turn to go through.

Wear comfortable shoes! Along with your red & white outfit. Statehood t-shirts and DC flag t-shirts are fine.

Public transportation is always recommended, Capitol South is the closest Metro rail stop, serving the blue, orange and silver line. Also, Metrobus routes 30N, 30S, 32, 36 and 97 have stops within two blocks of the Rayburn Building.

DC Vote will have a "Welcoming and Way Finding" team at Capitol South Metro and along Independence Ave. They will help direct you to available entrances - we can enter any of the 3 House Office Buildings and take the tunnel to Rayburn. If you can you be part of Welcoming team, email barbara@dcvote.org for details.
